God's Work, Our Hands

God’s Work, Our Hands is a community service weekend for Saint Paul Lutheran Church disciples young and old. It is a time to give our hands to perform tasks that the city, school, non-profit organizations and other members of the community need assistance to complete. In the past this weekend has been in September when we come together at the end of summer for a rallying event. Of course, it also usually encompasses a meal or two as we fellowship together to do God’s work with Our Hands.

Food Shelf

The Pine Island Sharing Shelves serves those within the Pine Island School District struggling with food insecurity. The Sharing Shelves is completely supported by local cash and food donations received from individuals, congregations and businesses, with Saint Paul’s being a strong partner in our shared mission of fighting domestic hunger.

The Pine Island Sharing Shelves relies on Saint Paul disciples for:

  • Food Donations.

  • Cash Donations, which can be stretched to purchase food through the regional food bank, Channel One.

  • Learning about domestic hunger and advocating for our hungry neighbors.

  • Participating in congregation-wide hunger projects and programs.

  • Volunteering at the Sharing Shelves and serving on the Board of Directors.
